OUR ORIGINS

Where it began

Sicom Industries was founded to meet a growing demand for high-tech precision manufacturing. The company started with two CNC mills in a small Vancouver facility, where a team of five employees committed themselves to training, development, and building the technical knowledge needed to compete in a changing industry.

The name Sicom reflects that original focus. It was created from the words science and computers, two principles that shaped the company’s approach from the beginning.

FROM FIVE EMPLOYEES TO FULL-SCALE PRODUCTION

Where we are now

Today, Sicom operates from a custom-built 30,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Gloucester Industrial Estates in Langley, British Columbia. With more than 65 employees and 24-hour operations, Sicom continues to support customers across industries including oil and gas, defence, subsea, aerospace, and high-tech manufacturing.

Our capabilities include CNC milling, CNC turning, inspection, grinding, assembly, and project management, with a focus on complex, close-tolerance parts for both prototype and production work. Sicom continues to invest in advanced equipment, inspection technology, experienced leadership, and quality systems to deliver precision-machined components that meet demanding customer requirements.

Boundary mining group

Sicom is part of Boundary Mining Group, a network of specialized manufacturing, repair, and industrial service companies. This connection gives Sicom the support of a larger group while maintaining the technical focus, quality standards, and customer-first approach that have defined the company since its early days. Together, the group’s companies support demanding industries with practical expertise, reliable manufacturing, and solutions built around real customer needs.

Our leadership

Mike Chester, Sicom’s President, started the company in 1986 with two CNC mills, a small team, and a strong belief in where precision manufacturing was headed. Through steady leadership, technical focus, and long-term commitment to customers, he helped guide Sicom from its early days in Vancouver to the advanced manufacturing operation it is today.

His approach continues to align with the values that guide Boundary Mining Group: quality in the work, reliability earned over time, and innovation driven by the need to keep improving.
